7.) We want a Nurse! : Why is it that when a man gets a divorce he immediately dates a much younger woman than his wife was. There are two major reason why this happens. First off, a younger woman is much easier to control. We love someone that we can have complete control over, more about this in the book. Second, I've been in countless conversations with older men who tell me that they like a young woman around because they're getting older, and need a young woman to take care of them. Personally this has never entered my mind and I was very surprised the first few times I'd heard it. Remember ladies we always have a plan, make sure you have one too.

Edwards defense to ask judge to throw out case

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Defense lawyers for John Edwards will ask a judge Friday to dismiss corruption charges against their client, arguing prosecutors failed to prove the former presidential candidate intentionally violated the law.

Such motions are routine in criminal trials and are very rarely successful. But after 14 days of testimony and evidence presented by prosecutors, legal observers in the North Carolina courtroom said the government's case was weak.

"They have established their case enough to get to a jury, but it has holes in it," said Kieran J. Shanahan, a Raleigh defense lawyer and former federal prosecutor. "He is not charged with being a liar and he is not charged with having a baby out of wedlock. He is charged with breaking campaign finance laws."

Edwards is accused of masterminding a scheme to use nearly $1 million in secret payments from two wealthy donors to help hide his pregnant mistress as he sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

To prove guilt, prosecutors must show that Edwards not only knew about the money used in the cover-up orchestrated by two members of his campaign, which he denies, but also that the former trial lawyer knew he was violating the law.

Prosecutors rested their case Thursday by playing a tape of a 2008 national television interview in which the Democrat repeatedly lied about his extramarital affair with the woman, Rielle Hunter, and denied fathering her baby. Earlier testimony from a parade of former aides and advisors also showed an unappealing side of Edwards, casting him as a liar and lousy husband.

"It is rare the jury gets to see the defendant talking about the main issues of a case in a televised videotape, especially with the defendant watching himself talking about the issues in the videotape," said Steven Friedland, a former prosecutor and professor as Elon University School of Law. "The defense must somehow counteract that lasting impression."

If U.S. District Court Judge Catherine C. Eagles doesn't grant the motion to dismiss, the defense will begin presenting its side Monday.

A key question is whether Edwards will take the stand in his own defense.

Before winning a U.S. Senate seat in 1998, Edwards made a fortune as a personal injury lawyer renowned for his ability to sway jurors. However, in doing so Edwards would also expose himself to what would likely be a withering cross-examination about his many past lies and personal failings.

The defense could also call Hunter to the stand, which prosecutors declined to do. She could potentially echo Edwards' position that he didn't have direct knowledge of the secret effort to care for her and keep her out of the public eye.

However, Friedland said he'd be surprised to see the mistress take the stand.

"She will simply call more attention to the lies surrounding her affair and pregnancy," he said.

Mitt Romney apologizes for the ‘dumb things’ he did in prep school

Mitt Romney has apologized for incidents described in a Washington Post story about his prep school years in Michigan. Some of the events include forcibly cutting a boy's bleached-blond hair and hassling a closeted gay student in English class.

"Back in high school, I did some dumb things," Romney said in an interview on the "Kilmeade and Friends" talk show on Fox News radio Thursday. "And if anybody was hurt by that or offended by that, I apologize." He added: "There is no question I became a very different person since then."

Romney emphasized that he had no idea the boy was gay. "I certainly don't believe that I thought the fellow was homosexual," said Romney in the radio interview. "That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s." 

According to the Washington Post, which conducted interviews with the presidential candidate's former classmates at the Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Romney forcibly cut the "bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye" of a "soft-spoken" new kid because he felt the boy didn't belong. The story is a 5,400-word profile of Romney's formative years; the incident occurred in 1965.

"He can't look like that," an "incensed" Romney told one of his friends upon seeing John Lauber's hair, according to the friend's account. "That's wrong. Just look at him!"

A few days later in a dorm room, several other students pinned down Lauber—who was "perpetually teased for his nonconformity and presumed homosexuality"—while the presumptive Republican nominee "clipped his hair with a pair of scissors." A "terrified" Lauber was crying and screaming, according to the paper.

"It was a hack job," Phillip Maxwell, a student who witnessed the incident, told the Post. "It was vicious." Lauber died in 2004.

Romney also chided another student presumed to be gay, wrote the Post:

In an English class, Gary Hummel, who was a closeted gay student at the time, recalled that his efforts to speak out in class were punctuated with Romney shouting, "Atta girl!" In the culture of that time and place, that was not entirely out of the norm. Hummel recalled some teachers using similar language.

According to his campaign, Romney doesn't recall the incidents.

"Anyone who knows Mitt Romney knows that he doesn't have a mean-spirited bone in his body," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement to the Post. "The stories of fifty years ago seem exaggerated and off base and Governor Romney has no memory of participating in these incidents."

It's worth noting that the Romney campaign, itself, is notorious for its pranks.

On April 1, Romney's campaign staff scheduled a speech for the former Massachusetts governor in a completely empty room.

"I think they're much funnier when I do them on other people than when they do them on me," Romney later said of the prank, captured by a campaign staffer on video. "But this was very good. This was classic."

Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior adviser to the Romney campaign, recently told the Hill that Romney is a "closet prankster." When Romney was governor, a state trooper on his security detail "short-sheeted" the bed in his hotel room, Fehrnstrom said. Romney retaliated by composing a fake letter from the hotel that said the maid staff had been fired.

“The labor market has changed dramatically during the last few decades,” says Heidi Hartmann, IWPR president. “Women’s labor force participation has shot up and women are receiving college degrees and graduate degrees at faster rates than men -- yet the gender wage gap is improving very slowly.”

But that’s not necessarily true across the board, according to Katie Bardaro, lead analyst at online salary database PayScale.com. The frequently quoted statistic that women earn 77 cents for every dollar men earn is based on an overview of all pay, for all jobs in every industry, she says. “It doesn’t take into account factors such as women tending to take jobs in lower-paying industries such as healthcare or teaching,” Bardaro says. In fact, “if you hold everything constant, women and men hold the same wage in a variety of jobs,” she says.

Based on PayScale’s study of compensation for full-time, private-sector employees in typically male-dominated industries, here’s a look at five careers that pay equal or slightly higher wages for women. 

1. Systems Engineer
Female Median Annual Salary: $72,300
Male Median Annual Salary: $71,500
Systems engineering is hot right now, especially in technology hubs such as Silicon Valley. Many engineers hold undergraduate degrees in computer science or math and work for a variety of companies and may have flexible schedules. Some who work for software vendors and consulting firms travel frequently, while others telecommute. Because IT is a relatively new profession, “it looks as if, from the beginning, there was less discrimination against women,” says Ariane Hegewisch, the IWPR’s study director.

2. Electrical Engineer
Female Median Annual Salary: $66,000
Male Median Annual Salary: $66,000
Electrical engineers don’t just work on power generators; they test equipment and design new and better electronics for everything from lighting and wiring in buildings to radar and navigation systems. These industries are historically more likely to be unionized, which helps to keep pay more equitable, says Hegewisch.

3. Mechanical Engineer
Female Median Annual Salary: $61,100
Male Median Annual Salary: $60,400
Mechanical engineers have a hand in creating better car engines, steam and gas turbines, air conditioners, elevators and escalators, and even the robots used in manufacturing. A four-year degree is usually required to start. Data from the Engineering Workforce Commission indicates that 2.24 percent more women earned BS degrees in mechanical engineering in 2011 than they did five years before.

4. Videographer
Female Median Annual Salary: $39,300
Male Median Annual Salary: $38,800
Camera operators shoot video for television programs, music videos, motion pictures, documentaries and training sessions. Richard Pierce, spokesperson for New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, says the school has encouraged women to enroll in the program by making female high school students aware of scholarship opportunities available to women only. He also says the growth of independent films has contributed to the number of women videographers.

Female Median Annual Salary: $31,500
Male Median Annual Salary: $31,500
Computer repair is no longer just for the guys, partly because schools offering certificate and associate’s degree programs are recruiting more women, Bardaro says. The big win is that repair techs can earn degrees online and have flexible work schedules, she says. “With more opportunities to work from home…this field is more attractive to working moms,” Bardaro says.

The one percenters in Congress

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Members of Congress are much richer than you and me.

With a median net worth of $878,500, Democratic lawmakers were actually worth more than nine times the typical American household in 2010. Not bad for the party that positions itself as the defender of the middle class.

And 21 congressional Democrats have average assets of more than $10 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which analyzed politicians' financial disclosure forms.

Obama's average net worth of $7.3 million isn't too shabby either, especially when compared to the median household net worth in America, which was $96,000 in 2009.

Republicans still have the upper hand in terms of wealth, but not by much. Their median net worth was $957,500, and 35 of them have assets totaling more than $10 million.

Regardless of party, Congress members' $174,000 salary blows away the median household income of $49,445 for 2010. And their net worth has been on the rise since 2004, unlike ordinary Americans, who have seen their wealth slip.

What's more, the center doesn't even include a primary home when calculating net worth for politicians. But the Census, which calculates net worth for average Americans, includes all real estate assets.

Election 2012: How rich are these guys?

Members of Congress have long come from the upper echelon of American society. A Rockefeller still roams the halls of Capitol Hill ... Jay of West Virginia with an average net worth of $99 million.

He's not the only lawmaker with big money.

Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts is the richest Democrat, worth an average of $232 million. His wealth is boosted by his wife, who is an heir to the Heinz ketchup fortune.

Senator Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat worth $193 million, made his money in celluar phones, co-founding the company that became Nextel.

California Representative Darrell Issa's fortune is built on vehicle anti-theft devices. The Republican is the richest Congress member by far, with an average net worth of $448 million.

His House colleague, Michael McCaul of Texas, is worth $380 million thanks to his wife, whose family runs Clear Channel Communications.

"It's very hard for someone of median wealth to serve in Congress, even if they could raise the money to get elected," said Nolan McCarty, a politics professor at Princeton University.

Less than 2% of Congress come from the working class, a figure that's stayed constant for the last century, said Nick Carnes, assistant public policy professor at Duke University.

Congress is mostly made up of lawyers and business professionals, Carnes said. And as income inequality grows in America, the gap between lawmakers and their constituents widens as well.The wealth divide between politicians and the people takes on particular significance this year, as Democrats and Republicans battle over whether to raise taxes on the wealthy and slash spending on safety net programs.

Obama and his party are setting themselves up as advocates for the middle class and their American dreams.

"That sense of middle-class security and the notion that successive generations would do better than the previous one -- that felt like it was slipping away for too many people," Obama said at a recent campaign rally.

While the wealthy are able to advocate on behalf of the less fortunate, those of more moderate means tend to do a better job of representing the middle and working classes, some experts say.

"Politicians from working and middle classes are more likely to work hard on bread and butter domestic economic issues that matter to ordinary Americans," Carnes said.

     What Anthony said really opened my eyes. How many times have we all heard men proudly say She's the boss, when speaking with someone in the presence of their wife or girlfriend. I began to learn that deception and misdirection are powerful tools within the male code.
